SKYSCRAPERS OF THE FUTURE

Abstract:
The race for the skies was initiated with the construction of Home Insurance Building in Chicago (U.S.A) in 1885.
This was to be the precedent; for things to be followed!
As a result of research and development & technological advancement of materials and building components, building high-rise structures became a feasible proposition.
Not just technically; but also Socially & Ecologically!
Over the turn of the century, Asian countries started looking at the prospect of building sky-scrapers, this being the direct outcome of scarcity of land for the ever increasing population;
And it may be said that off-late Asian countries are at the forefront of some radical sky-scraper designs!
Driven by their fast economic growth these countries want to promote their country and its future cities by constructing ever taller (eco-friendly) self-sustainable green skyscrapers.
An example of this is the Burj KHALIFA in Dubai.
With a height well over 800 m., it is presently the world’s tallest skyscraper.
